10th March at Kirtipur

10th of March is Tibet's uprising day and I made prayers for the cause of the Tibetan people and for peace and harmony for everyone.

It is also considered a full moon Day because the 15th is missing in the lunar Tibetan calendar for this month and therefore the 14th becomes the full moon day of the month where Shakyamuni Buddha manifested 15 days of miracles. In the morning, I went to Kirtipur where we did prayers and smoke offerings to the universal deities and raised up all the new prayer flags.

After lunch, we had a certificate presentation ceremony for students of the short courses and I gave a short speech and thanked everyone who are working and helping in KIBS.

At 2:30 pm, we had a simple launching ceremony of our incense production project and Ani Tenzin La and Nyishar are the main people in charge of making incense. I made prayers there and then tied the Khatag to the new machine that makes incense. The anis presented a gift of incense to everyone who came and served drinks and cookies. You can see the photos of all those events:

Morning Labsang Puja ( Smoke offering ) Tormas in the garden where the flag is rising up.

Me, Lamas and Anis are doing Lhabsang Puja.

Lamas and students are all raising up the prayer flags. There are 15 prayer flags to be raised up one by one and a lot of strength is needed to lift them up.

After raising up the prayer flags, we threw Tsampa and shouted the phrase "Gi gi so so lak kya lo" for good luck to everyone.

Students are listening to my speech in my room.

Incense making machine brought from Singapore.

We are making a short prayer for the success of the incense production undertaken by Anis from Tharpa Choeling.

As a tradition, I am tying a Khata to the machine.

Dear Rinpoche,

May I know what is the significant of tying Kharta to new machine? Giving blessings to machine for longer life span?

Thank you!
