Today, I thought of informing you all just a few things. First it is the sad news about HH Penor Rinpoche passing away into Pari Nirvana. HH Penor Rinpoche is one of the great Masters of Tibetan Buddhism as well as the head of the Nyingmapa Lineage.
Last night my teaching class was postponed and together with many members and devotees of Karma Kagyud Buddhist Centre, we made special aspiration prayers for HH Penor Rinpoche. We also made a lot of lamp offerings and prayed that for the benefit of all sentient beings, he will soon appear in his Nirmanakaya form again in this world. We also prayed that even though he has passed away into nirvana, his blessings and compassion will still shine forth towards us and through that, we will be able to follow his great example of practice and achievement.
At the same time, we observed the world earth day by turning off our lights for an hour during our prayers and used candle light instead to read the king of aspiration prayers text. It reminded me of Nepal as Nepal has 16 hours a day without electricity so most of the time we stay in the dark. However one kind disciple sponsored a generator for our monastery and so now monastery does not suffer from lack of electricity. Prior to that, someone also donated money to buy an inverter and battery to light the monks' quarters. With all these help, the monks are not affected in their study and daily practice. I really appreciate their kind help towards Jangchub Choeling Monastery.
Since December last year, Vicky and her friends have requested me to arrange lighting of one hundred thousand lamps within a year and had dedicated this towards my good health and also to increase the merits and happiness for everyone. The lighting of 300 lamps at different temples of our organization and holy places everyday consecutively was initiated since then. Later on many disciples and devotees also joined in this meritorious act.
I launched this lamp offering activity at Bodhgaya during Kagyu Monlam in December last year. For one whole month every day, we lit 300 lamps at Bodhgaya and subsequently the activity was moved to Jangchub Choeling Monastery in Pokhara and then to Lumbini. At this time, the lamps are being lit at Kagyu Institute of Buddhist Studies in Kirtipur and after this month's full moon day, the activity will move to Tharpa Choeling Nunnery in Muktinath.

I met Penor Rinpoche once in Bodhigaya during Monlam some years ago. A kind and cheerful master. May Penor Rinpoche come back soon in a healthy body for the benefit of all beings. I too did a small little prayer for his return.
May Shangpa Rinpoche live long for all beings as we need your guidance at such adverse time.
Rinpoche, Apart from the lighting of the candles, please also know that your disciples will pray for your good health and long life everyday in our prayers.
Hi Shangpa Rinpoche. This is Rinchen Dawa. We met in 2006 in Manila during Karmapa's visit. I am sorry to hear this sad news, but we all know that life is impermanent. I have also posted the king of Aspiration Prayers on my blog at MySpace.

may all beings possess the cause of happiness
may all beings reach enlightenment
may you be happy

Such great aspirations. We need guidance and may all the Spiritual Masters live a long life. For those that have departed to swiftly return to continue their guidance.Especially at time like this.
Cheers.
Sad news, but hope that Penor Rinpoche come back and help more sentient beings.
Thanks, Shangpa Rinpoche for this blog and sharing your thoughts with us!
All the best, and om ami deva hrih
