This year again, we are celebrating Venerable Shangpa Rinpoche’s birthday in order to express our deep gratitude towards his great kindness and compassion.
In conjunction with the celebrating events, many devotees had pledged to recite 100,000 times of Green Tara mantra. Through our collective practice and accumulation of merits, we will dedicate and present this very special and meaningful birthday gift to Rinpoche on 4/9/2010 which is filled with our love, care and thoughtfulness towards him.
In view of its great blessings and our close affinity with Shangpa Rinpoche and Mother Tara, we are organizing a Green Tara initiation to be conferred by Rinpoche during the event. A finely produced DVD that has vividly captured the wonderful life journey of Rinpoche will be distributed to all participants who had pledged and completed the recitation of Tara mantras. Rinpoche will also be presenting the 21 unique Tara pendants during the lucky dip draw.
In the past years, we had been making lamp offerings that were specially dedicated to Rinpoche’s longevity, good health and to fulfill his wishes in all Dharma activities. This year we will continue this tradition without fail. Luminous lotus lamps would be arranged beautifully in a large star shape with many lamps beside it. That is to symbolize that Rinpoche is like a resplendent star in the dark sky of samsara; constantly gazing upon all the sentient beings that are enveloped by darkness and unconditionally beaming his compassionate light rays to guide, protect and liberate them from the fear of darkness, Samsara.
Venerable Shangpa Rinpoche is indeed an authentic Guru and genuine practitioner who, in his heart and mind, always have compassionate thoughts of benefiting all mother sentient beings through the teachings of the Buddhas. He is like a shining guiding light in our life leading us out of the darkness of samsara; an exceedingly precious wish-fulfilling jewel, which is extremely rare to chance upon in our life.
Having the good karma of having such a wonderful Guru, an utmost precious and important person in our life, let’s come together to rejoice in and celebrate Venerable Shangpa Rinpoche’s birthday – a day that marks our heartfelt gratefulness. All are welcome!
